Dennis Young began studying the violin at eight years of age. He also began private study with a Russian violinist, Louis Debovsky, for 12 years. Louis Debovsky was a student of Leapold Auer and Otakar Sevcik. With a scholarship to Whittier College, Dennis studied with Ruth Haroldson who was a graduate of Juliard School of Music. Dennis spent two years at CSU Long Beach with violinist Herny Temianka. Dennis also attended various Southern California Music Camps including Idelwild Summer Music Camps and USC Summer Music Camps.
Beginning in his eigth grade year of school, Dennis began playing in various Southern California orchestras including the Pasadena Symphony, Whittier Symphony, Montebello Symphony, La Mirada Symphony, and Compton Symphony. Dennis has also performed in various solo concerts and competitions.
Since about 2008 to 2015, the students of Dennis Young have been concertmasters/concertmistrisses or soloists of the Redding Youth Symphony or the Chico Youth Symphony. Students can learn to play fiddle and compete in the October Western Open Fiddle Contest.
